Art Council

LATEST ART COUNCIL NEWS:

Using a variety of recycled plastic items including bottle tops, buttons and plastic packaging, The Art Council have enjoyed working together to make a mosaic in the shape of a Blue Whale. Once completed, the whale will be displayed in the entrance foyer to remind people to reduce, re-use and re-cycle plastic waste, to help protect our planet.

Art Council plan for this year:

Art council have been busy planning for the academic year ahead. We are delighted to announce that our school has secured a place in the Brighton Children's parade as part of the May Brighton festival 2023. In addition, our Year 6 children made lanterns which were displayed in Pavillion Gardens during the 'Jack on the Green' Art event, run by the local council and Art group, SameSky. This event took place on the evenings of 21-23rd October. This is an example of what they made:

In the lead up to Christmas, Art council were busy designing Christmas cards to be sent to our local community.

This Spring, Art council have been busy designing posters for an Art competition run by St Andrews school. The theme of the competition is 'Diversity.' We have discussed what Diversity means to us and thought about how we can represent it through Art.

In addition, we have started to collect small pieces of blue and white plastic to create a Whale, made from recycled materials. Our Whale will be displayed in the school entrance lobby.

Art council are keen to continue to develop links with our community and we will be contacting our local shops, in Broadwater, to host our annual shop window Art Gallery in the Spring term.
