BROADWATER DAY: THE GOVERNORS’ FUND

"Broadwater Day"

Let’s bridge the 10% Gap

Your donations are essential to future improvements at Broadwater Primary School.

As a ‘voluntary aided’ school, our Governing Board is responsible for 10% of the cost of all the school’s building and maintenance works. Important things like the refurbished flat roofs and the new security gates and fencing would not have been possible if the Governing Board were unable to make this contribution. This applies to all our future plans too. Put simply, unless the school can contribute 10% of the project cost from The Governors’ Fund, the relevant authorities will not release the remaining 90%. So, it’s vital we fundraise annually to replenish these funds.

The advantages of being a ‘voluntary aided’ school include being able to choose our own Religious Education curriculum, unlike most state-funded schools. It also includes control over staff appointments and our school admissions process which, for example, enables as many siblings as possible to attend our school. These freedoms help shape the character of Broadwater Primary School and play a big part in the pupil educational experience.

To sustain this, however, we require the financial support of the Broadwater school community. That is why we ask for your donations.

In 2023/24 we secured funding to undertake key resurfacing and drainage works.

Next year, projects that will require a 10% contribution from The Governors’ Fund include the need to refurbish guttering and soffits around much of the building.

The donation per family that will help us bridge the 10% gap is £42 per year / £3.50 per month. We recognise, however, that this is not possible for everyone. Every donation, large or small is gratefully received and helps us towards our goals.

Regular donations enable us to make longer term, more ambitious plans, whilst smaller one-off donations help us with one-off projects.

The Governors’ Fund has charitable status. There are several ways to donate.

If you are a UK taxpayer, we would be most grateful if you could tick the Gift Aid box when you donate. This provides an additional 25p for every £1 donated, at no cost to you.

The more we raise, the more 10% gaps we can bridge, the more we can do for your children’s education

A massive thank you from the school’s Governing Board and everyone at Broadwater C of E Primary School for your generous donation. We look forward to seeing you at one or all of Broadwater Primary’s annual events.
