Celebrating 150 years!

Today we celebrated 150 years of primary education in Broadwater. We started the day with an aerial drone photograph of the whole school forming the shape of 150. It was great fun and we can't wait to see the results. During the afternoon, we gathered together on the field, with invited guests, for a special service lead by the pupil leadership team and the Bishop of Chichester. On Sunday 14th May, Rowan and Sienna visited their grandad and they asked if they could litter pick along the river Adur. This was entirely their idea as they noticed some plastic around. They collected a bag of plastic rubbish from the footpath and waters edge really quickly and so enthusiastically. Well done Rowan and Sienna for cleaning up the community. -
Year Five 'Cook School'

Year 5 had the amazing opportunity to make a vegetarian lasagne with the ingredients being kindly provided by 'Cook School'. Each child took home a lasagne they had made and a recipe card. In their groups, they also made an additional lasagne which they will be giving away for free after school. -
Year 2 trip to Worthing beach

Year 2 had a fantastic trip to Worthing beach. They loved rock pooling, finding crabs, shrimp, anemones and small fish. The beach patrol gave them a sea safety talk which highlighted how to stay safe when on the beach and in the water. The children found out the history of the pier and enjoyed strolling along the promenade. It was a great day. -
Year 5 visit from Zoolab

As part of their learning about life cycles, Year 5 enjoyed a visit from Zoolab last week. They were introduced to all sorts of creatures including a tree frog, the Giant African Land snail, a tarantula and the Royal Python. They even got a chance to hold some of them. -
Year 5 Dissecting Flowers

Year 5 enjoyed dissecting flowers last week. They carefully removed each part, piece by piece and identified and named them. They also discussed how wind and insects are involved in pollinating plants and the role each part of the flower plays in this.
