Curriculum Committee

The Curriculum Committee will:

  • Ensure that the curriculum is broad and balanced and relevant to the needs of all children
  • Ensure that the National Curriculum and Religious Education is delivered in accordance with the legal framework
  • Monitor and review the provision for more able pupils
  • Monitor and review all curriculum related policies in line with an agreed policy review timetable
  • Contribute as appropriate to the School Development Planning process
  • Ensure that statutory and non-statutory targets for pupil performance are agreed and reported to the Local Authority
  • Ensure that the results of the annual categorisation of the school by the Local Authority are reported to the governing body
  • Receive SDR pack and work with Local Authority to set targets
  • Monitor the school’s performance, and the performance of vulnerable groups, and agree strategies for raising standards
  • Ensure parents are kept informed about key developments relating to the curriculum and provided with the necessary information on their children’s progress in line with legal requirements
  • Ensure school INSET days are linked to the school development plan priorities 

Advisory:

  • Produce the policy and provision for sex and relationships education for final approval by the governing body
  • Produce the policy and provision for religious education and collective worship for final approval by the governing body
  • Review the timing of school sessions and dates of school terms and holidays 

Delegated:

  • Monitor and review the progress of school priorities in the School Development Plan and the OFSTED Action Plan
  • Agree the annual statutory and non-statutory pupil performance targets, monitor and review progress
  • Prepare in partnership with the Headteacher for an OFSTED inspection
  • Approve the curriculum policy and inclusion policy for children with Special Educational Needs and monitor its implementation
  • Prepare information on school performance for the parents as required
  • Approve off-site visits and activities of more than 24 hours or which involve a hazardous journey by air or sea
  • Approve and review the Home – School Agreement
