Year 1 Stunning Start

Year One have been immersing themselves in the sights and sounds of steam trains to start our new topic 'Move it! '.  As part of our Stunning Start,  we were issued with vintage tickets to get on board a virtual train leaving from our classrooms.  We learnt lots about the past by comparing photographs of train travel from the 1950's with images from today.  We discovered more by listening to the memories of an older person who travelled by steam train to her boarding school.  We also enjoyed the story 'Little Red Train to the Rescue' , which we retold using railway track and props. We all had great fun sending an electric train around our finished track.
